Laser Hair Removal FAQ

Are you dreading the daily routine of shaving? Laser hair removal may be the solution for you. Laser hair removal is a relatively new cutting edge treatment that’s picking up momentum.

We’ve asked our certified medical technician Tania Murrieta to answer the 7 most frequently asked questions regarding laser hair removal, to help you determine if this treatment is right for you.

#1: Who is a good candidate?

Before you continue reading, lets determine whether you are a good candidate for laser hair removal. Actually, in theory most people qualify as candidates but some are a better match than others.  Having light skin paired with dark hair is the optimal circumstance. Since a machine with light sheer technology, such as that of CosMed, is designed to attack the pigment of your hair. Blonde and gray hair is less ideal because of the lack of pigment. Evaluating your skin would be necessary.

#2: What is the level of efficiency I can expect from a Laser Hair Removal treatment?

You will lose hair permanently for a certain amount of time and you can expect a difference between the time it takes for it to grow back, depending on the machine used. With LightSheer technology, after 8 sessions are complete all that is required is a touch up session every year and a half, leading to an essentially “hairless” state in your desired area.

#3: Is there a difference between machines?

Some clinics may use machines based on IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) technology which is not designed for laser hair removal. The best treatment would use LightSheer® Duet™ technology, for it is designed especially for hair removal.

#4: What degree of pain should I prepare myself for?

In essence the treatment is painless, it does not hurt or burn. How sensitive your skin is may create some variability.

#5: How long do I have to wait to see results?

Again, this depends on the machine being used. With LightSheer® Duet™ patients can see results after the third session with 40% less hair and a noticed thinning of the hair.

#6: How many sessions does a treatment compose of?

There would be a total of 6-8 sessions.

#7: What areas can I get treated for and how long does it take?

This is a matter of personal choice. You may get a full body treatment, taking about two hours, or you can choose which exact area you would like treated. You can buy the treatment by area or customizable packages.
