Dr Castañeda Credentials

Any individual can claim to be a doctor, cosmetic or plastic surgeon. You should make it your first priority to check a doctor’s credentials. The training and certification should be appropriate to the planned procedure.

The surgeon you choose should have the following credentials; Board Certification, Medical License, Fellowships, Medical Societies and Training are first and most important in selecting your surgeon.

When seeking a plastic surgeon out of the country, the International Society of Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) is the single most important resource in finding a qualified surgeon. Members are required to be Board Certified in plastic surgery in their countries and need to belong to their national societies. You can find Dr. Castañeda Profile Here

In Mexico, the Asociación Mexicana de Cirugía Plástica, Estética y Reconstructiva (AMCPER) ensures that the surgeon has been certified by the Mexican Board of Board of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery(CMCPER) and has met all requirements for continuing education and experience in plastic surgery.

Aesthetic plastic surgeries are complex procedures requiring a high level of operative precision, medical knowledge and experience. To perform these procedures at the highest competency a rigorous program of medical and surgical training is necessary, taking a minimum of 14 years to complete. Four years of college, four years of medical school, three to five years general surgical training and two to three years of specialization in plastic and reconstructive surgery. To focus on aesthetic or plastic surgery the most qualified doctors will undergo additional subspecialty training in those fields.

All this adds up to a long and demanding program of advanced specialized training allowing the surgeon to develop clinical judgment, technical skills and to demonstrate a commitment to practicing aesthetic plastic surgery at the highest level of competence.

It is not enough to merely score well on examinations! When selecting a surgeon NEVER choose a Cosmetic Surgeon as they do not have the credentials or the years of training required to become a plastic surgeon.

You always want a Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon. In the real world, patience, artistic sense, judgment and meticulous skills are required to plan and execute extensive operative procedures and traits that set the excellent plastic surgeon far above the merely competent!
